With an amazing hiking goal set for 3 months time, while armed then with ITB/knee issues wasn't enough to deter this amazing lady from training and doing what needed to be done in order to tick off one of her lifetime bucket list goals.
Hiking 260km of raw, rugged Australian Outback meant Michelle required a specific yet careful program to support her goal coming across the line feeling strong, uninjured and a bank of wonderful memories.
"Just want to say a big thank-you to Alina, who has helped me immensely in getting over an injury that was likely to stop me achieving some of my goals.
I had made a few goals for myself pre COVID that in 2021 for my 60th year that I would run the New York marathon, better my time in Saturday Park Run and hike the Larapinta Trail in the NT.
We had just retired and what more beautiful place to do my training then in Noosa. My body however had other ideas, constant ITB issues followed by a meniscus tear in my left knee meant I was not running or walking up and down hills anywhere anytime soon. Hmmm....maybe my running days were over....no, no, no, I love running, I don’t want to not be a runner!
I had seen a physio a number of times but the recovery was slow. Looking at some other options for a way to repair my knee in time for my April Larapinta end to end trail walk, I came across Alina’s name. We met and Alina suggested to do some strength training which we did twice a week for 3 months. As the saying goes, it didn’t happen over night, but after a few weeks of training, I could already see some big improvements, in joint mobility. 3 months later I can honestly say I am ready for my walk, and ready to start running again. Alina was fantastic, with a 3 month program of lower body, upper body, core workouts and suggestions of cardio workouts, I have gained strength, flexibility and fitness. Again, thanks Alina!"
Cannot be more prouder of this amazing lady....seeing her achieve this goal (which would've stopped many others) is the ultimate and priceless reward any coach could ever ask for.
