BodyShacker of the week - 1 year on - Liz Ioannou

Alina Anderson

Congratulations Liz Ioannou!

"I love the feeling of being able to do toe push ups and seeing results from my hard work"

12 months of Beach ICE sessions, what the biggest thing you've noticed?
My biggest improvement I've really witnessed is my upper body strength. When I first started I couldn't do push ups that well, wheres now I've no problems and do them all on my toes. My arms and legs are a lot more toned than they used to be and my general fitness has increased a lot more, especially running! I've learnt to push myself harder - I used to hold back when we did intervals but now I've learnt to push myself better now and go for it...I keep saying to myself it's only 20 minutes so I give it all I've got.

Why do you like coming to Beach ICE?
There's always a variety of workouts.....every session is different which means you work different areas of the body every time....I can see results from my hard work.

What's your favourite exercise?
Oooo, definitely anything that involves running.

Least favourite?
ICE ICE Baby and reverse burpees.

Why would you recommend Beach ICE to others?
Working out on the beach is so beautiful. It's a great opportunity to meet new people. We all get on so well and anyone new who starts feels like they've been there for ages....everyone is so nice, friendly and welcoming....it makes you want to come and work out. We're so lucky to have such a beautiful location to workout in and most of the time we've got it all to ourselves. If you've got kids it's just YOU time, it gets you away and you're doing something just for you - it's all over even before the kids are out of bed. I wouldn't come and do these type of workouts by myself - it's way more fun with an encouraging group and the fact that there's other people there that are fitter than you (I'm always thinking I'm going to catch Jon) that's what keeps me going lol....it's nice everyone's at different levels so it's good there's always someone there to push you.

Any advice you can give to others?
Just go for it, you've nothing to lose. Everybody is made to feel welcome, it's such a great bunch of people. It's good to push yourself as an individual and you try and set yourself targets (I like to try and keep up with Jon) but there's no competitiveness within our group - everyone is always included and no one is ever left out or behind. Everyone is at different levels and that's what's nice about it.
